End of Watch - August 9, 2010
In February, 2009 Deputy Chris Dewey of the Mahnomen County, Minnesota Sheriff's Department was investigating a shots fired call when he was shot in the head and abdomen. A nearby Deputy found Chris and was able to get him emergency medical aid.
Chris was transferred to Craig Hospital in Englewood, Colorado for treatment and rehabilitation where he inspired Officers from around the Denver Metro area with his courage, strength and unyielding warrior spirit. Chris lost his long battle with illness and complications from his injuries and was honored with a full law enforcement memorial service in Minneapolis, MN in August, 2010.
Chris Dewey was the kind of warrior who touched lives with his simple presence, and his wife Emily is an inspiration and example of strength and undying faith that has left many in the law enforcement community in awe.
We will miss you, Chris.
Emily, you always have family here in Denver.
