Officer Densey Cole of the Chicago Police Department was responding to a robbery call when his marked police vehicle was struck by another motorist.  As a result of the collision, Officer Cole was immediately paralyzed.

    As Densey lay helpless in his patrol vehicle, he was assaulted by two criminals who also stole his service pistol.  This assault caused additional, extensive injuries to Densey.

    Officer Cole was eventually taken to Craig Hospital in Englewood, Colorado for treatment and rehabilitation.  His story, his amazing warrior spirit, and his unyielding determination to overcome his injuries has inspired law enforcement around the country.
